The following
designations are available:
DNM®
Category I
Graduate from a Traditional program in Natural Medicine with 4500 hours of study:
· Pre-requisite to study Natural Medicine is a minimum of 3 years undergraduate University courses to include the following health sciences:
o Anatomy
o Physiology
o Biochemistry
o Public Health
· Followed by 4 years “Core” Natural Medicine courses:
o Clinical Internship/Mentorship
o Natural Medicine Modalities
The teachers instructing the above courses must have a Doctoral level of education and at least five years of experience and formal training as a Natural Medicine Doctor.
Category II
Foreign-trained Natural Medicine Doctors whose past training curriculum equals 4500 hours of study or whose combined training and years of experience amounts to 4500 hours.
Doctors in this category include Naturopaths, Homeopaths, Eastern Medicine Doctors (Ayurveda, Chinese).
The potential registrant is required to submit proof of education and clinical internship and may be required to pass a challenge examination to be registered.
Category III
Western or Foreign trained Doctors: Chiropractors, Medical Doctors, Dentist, Osteopaths, Orthomolecular Medical Doctors, Dental Medicine Doctors, etc. who have been practicing Integrative/ Natural Medicine and have accumulated at least 1500 hours of training and at least 5 years of clinical experience in at least two areas of Natural Medicine. The potential registrant is required to submit proof of education and must pass a challenge examination to be registered.
Natural Medicine Doctors who are Doctors of other regulated health care professions must show proof of license to practice as such.
NMP®: successful completion of at least 3000 hrs. of post secondary study from an accredited college in Nutritional Medicine, Botanical Medicine, Manual Medicine and Homeopathy.
RAP®: successful completion of at least 2000 hrs. of post secondary study from an accredited college in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.
RLMP®: successful completion of at least 1000 hrs. of post secondary study from an accredited college in Lifestyle and Wellness management
RNMP®: a practitioner who has completed at least 1000 hours of study from an accredited college in Nutritional Medicine.
RNhP®: successful completion of at least 1000 hrs. of post secondary study from an accredited college in any of the following disciplines: Nutritional Medicine, Botanical Medicine, Manual Medicine and Homeopathy.
Designation requirements can be fulfilled by a combination of formal training, experience and / or a challenge examination set by the AANM.
The American Association of Natural Medicine reserves the right to recommend further upgrading, or to deny registration to any applicant. The criteria for registration will be reviewed each year.
The EBNMP™ retains all trademark, certification mark, and other ownership rights concerning the DNM®, Doctorate of Natural Medicine®, RAP®, Registered Acupuncture Practitioner®, NMP®, Natural Medicine Practitioner®, RNhP®, Registered Natural Health Practitioner®, RLMP®, Registered Lifestyle Management Practitioner®, RNMP®, Registered Nutritional Medicine Practitioner®, EBNMP™ and Examining Board of Natural Medicine Practitioners™ certification marks. The correct use of certification marks is significant, and is a public symbol of EBNMP™ certifications. The certification marks are directly associated with the recipients and the EBNMP™.
These trademarks are licensed solely by the EBNMP™ Canada to the AANM and can only be issued by the AANM under the authority of the EBNMP™.
No other organization, association or entity is authorized to issue EBNMP™ Canada owned trademarks without express written consent of the trademark owner.
